Providing Vitamin D supplements during routine antenatal appointments will reduce bone disease in children from high risk areas

  • Using Bradford data, it was demonstrated that less than: 10% of eligible women were taking supplements and South Asian women had very low levels of Vitamin D in Pregnancy.
  • Midwives and paediatricians were concerned about the low levels of supplement uptake in high risk areas and developed a novel programme for provision of supplements with routine scan visits.
