Individual placement and support - IPS

Who?

People with mental health problems

Findings

• Socially, psychologically and economically, having a paid job is a good thing for people living with mental health problems.

• Government policy is geared towards encouraging people into work, and many of the disincentives in the benefits system have been overcome.

• An approach called Individual Placement and Support (IPS) has a good evidence base. Services using IPS or equivalent are becoming more common throughout England.
