NIHR CLAHRC East Midlands has five inter-related themes with projects led by world-class researchers. Their programme of work has been confirmed through extensive consultation with partners and the public.
Projects underpin local plans to support prevention and help people manage their long term conditions, and are aligned with the NHS outcomes framework and the NHS public health and adult social care frameworks.
CLAHRC East Midlands will aim at improving patient outcomes by conducting research of local relevance and international quality into five main areas:
- Preventing chronic disease
- Managing chronic disease
- Caring for older people and stroke survivors
- Enhancing mental health
- Implementing evidence and improvement.
NIHR CLAHRC East Midlands will build on the achievements of the CLAHRCs for Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland (LNR) and Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire (NDL) in bringing together health providers, commissioners, patient groups, health and research networks, life science industries and academic institutions to support the NHS to meet local priorities.
The legacy of CLAHRCs NDL and LNR is a wealth of expertise in prevention and management of chronic disease, public and mental health, and implementation and improvement science.
